The research by the University of Portsmouth specifically examined the incel subculture on TikTok, a platform that has shown a surge in misogynistic and anti-feminist content. Researchers analyzed two prominent incel accounts, and their respective 52 videos and 1657 comments.

Following Andrew Tate’s rise to prominence on social media platforms like TikTok, many have expressed concern about the impact that his misogynistic views are having on boys and young men. A YouGov study in May examined attitudes among young men towards Tate and his beliefs, and now a new YouGov Children’s Omnibus survey does the same for boys.

Google is trialling a digital watermark to spot images made by artificial intelligence (AI) in a bid to fight disinformation.

Developed by DeepMind, Google's AI arm, SynthID will identify images generated by machines.

It works by embedding changes to individual pixels in images so watermarks are invisible to the human eye, but detectable by computers
